Found some treated 2 x 1 yesterday, just enough to make my supports with, so cut it to size and made my way to the plot quick sharpish. 

Managed to sow 2 x 25 foot rows, one with Early Onward and Sugar Anne, the other with Kelvedon Wonder and a Mange Tout (Oregon Sugar or something like that, at work now so can't check), finished just before dark, and still feeling quite pleased with myself 

One quick question though, when do the birds start taking an interest, as soon as they germinate, when they flower, or when the peas start to show?  I have some netting somewhere but don't want to put it up yet if I don't have to as I still have plenty of other jobs to do.

I net straight away, it not just the birds, but mice will dig them up. You may not prevent them totally, but a well pegged down net will keep some out.

I take the nets off when the plant is about 2" high & then re- net when the pods start to form as the pigeons are adept at making landing pads, by squashing the foliage down.

Well after all that I didn't actually get the peas in the end (fail).  Oh well I'm sure another few days won't hurt.  I love peas & wish I had a bit more room to grow loads of them.
