Why is the tree shedding little tiny things (are they seeds ?)  Obviously catkins in the spring, I accept, but I don't remember this.
It is blowing continually and they are all blowing down my drive and into my drains.

I am wondering if she is stressed  with the hot weather.  She has sprouted what look like new catkins, except they are slightly rounder, and maybe the little tiny things are were they are breaking up.
Also she is dropping loads of sticky resin, - which is all over the cars - I can see no insects anywhere of ants going up the trunk, so maybe she is just thirsty and hot.   Regards, Mrs Bouquet

Birch usually disperse their seeds in Autumn, and can drip sap when they are growing in Spring, but it does seem odd that either of these would take place right now … so you are right I think that it has been brought on by this very hot dry weather

Yep, I reckon its struggling. On top of the Downs, its about 18/24 " soil, then its just chalk and flints.
Its not the only thing looking very stress here at the moment (including me  )  Mrs Bouquet
