I’m filling in my growing calendar for this year (another fantastic present from the wife) and the Wild Strawberry Seeds she bought me advises freezing them for 4 weeks, I assume this is to simulate winter frost?
Does everyone follow this step and if so is 4 weeks really necessary?  I only ask because it also advises planting in a propagator in January…. Have I missed the boat on this one?

I think if you sow them and put them in a cold greenhouse/cold frame, they won't need freezing - it'll be cold enough to do it naturally

I have sown my alpine strawberries a few weeks ago in a warm greenhouse and they have all germinated. So best to sow them and leave them in the warmth (around 20 C) for about 2 weeks to see if anything germinates, if no germination I would put them in the fridge for 4 weeks and then back out in the warmth again.
