Charlottes & Kestrels from Wilkos were £1 for 5 small seed potatoes . I didn't see any Lady Christie, so I opted for 3 kgs of Pentland Javelin instead for £2.99  :) . I'll go back for 3kgs of 2nd earlies later this week  ;).

You could always have a day out at Hebden Bridge, West Yorks, and our local potato day(at nearby Mytholmroyd) on February 26, about 40 varieties at 14p per tuber, it's £1 in but that is also a raffle entry, (don't know what the prize(s) is) other stalls, cafe and kids corner. starts 10am

Ive just bought ten Charlotte from local nursery, how long should I leave them in the ground so as to get small salad spuds, also bought King Edwards aswell, how many weeks should they be in for so as to avoid worms and rot??

Thanks in advance

The usual guide for new/salad spuds is to wait until they flower, then have a furtle to see what lies beneath the surface.

For maincrop, wait until the foliage dies down, then lift.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

You must be thinking about someone else, but none the less, nice to hear from you again.

Nursery wasn't at Anstey was it?

Yeh I think it another chap actually, nursery is Hawgrips in Enderby.  If you've not been, go its fab.  Not to be confused with Palmers on main road which is a very commercialised pretty garden centre if you know what Imean but nice aswell.  Hawgrips is a rough and ready old place and very cheap.  On Seine Lane if your interested

Anstey is nearer me and their 90+ varieties is more than enough to send me into a spin.

Brookside Nurseries, Cropston Road.

Onion sets, shallotts, numerous pea & bean seed varieties, sold by weight at a fraction of the packet stuff.
