Help!!!!!!! My chicken is ill, i've discovered a large round growth outside of her flume, its red and the size of a golf ball. Any ideas?

Do you mean from her vent?  If yes, it could be a prolapse and from what I have read on the forum about prolapses you will need to keep the area clean and use something like preparation H on the area to help the swelling down.  It would be wise to keep her away from the others as they will be drawn to the red and might peck it.  I hope someone with more experience will come along and give you some more help and probably a better idea of what it could be.  Hope you get it sorted soon and that she is alright.

Hi Janins, its when part of the inner bit of the vent comes outside.  It can sometimes be very gently pushed back in but you need to be sure it is clean.  You also might need antibiotics which would mean a trip to a vet.  If you put preparation H on it it could lessen the swelling and be a mild anaelgesic for that area.  I hope someone with more experience than myself will come forward and give you some advice.
