Skinny rhubarb

I've never known such thin stalks. Anyone else got same problem? I'm assuming it's due to the very dry spring weather that we had and that the next flush of stalks will look a bit sturdier?

Yes, I think it's the dry weather we had.  My early stalks were fat and full but the present ones are quite skinny.  One of the old guys on our allotments waters his rhubarb every day and they are huge!

I'm glad its not just me. I have had a couple of bundles off but the rest are very thin. Think i will just leave em to rot back down.

Same here in Lancashire. Lack of rain definitely the issue. Thought there must be a reason why rhubarb doesn't figure in Spanish cuisine.

Same here. I was puzzling about it myself, especially as the clump is well manured. I'd come to the conclusion that it maybe needed splitting and replanting, but am not so sure now.

Would sustained dry weather make my Rhubarb look like it has collapsed? It was fine last week but looks very poorly now.

I think the best way to tell is to give it a good water.  Mine's looking very 'wilty' and sorry for itself, so hopefully a good drink this evening will sort it out.  :)
