May I ask your opinion?
On my allotment two plots up, he  has a feeding try out for birds, mostly pidgens and some kind of doves come to them to eat, thinking that (to myself right now) that most of my problems come from pidgens pulling up my onions and eating my brassicas, and I have enough to contend with rabbits mice and every other creepy crawly that wants to march or fly onto the rest of my crop and eat me out of house and home.... oh yea! shall i tell him to stop encouraging the birds? or should I let it be?  :D

Perhaps if the pigeons are full from the food your neighbour provides, they might be less inclined to eat your crops?

I can't see it will make a great deal of difference to be honest.   My guess is that if he stopped feeding them, the birds would still eat your crops, perhaps more of them.  I would just net my crops as routine and let your neighbour carry on.

Let him fatten them up, then encourage them onto your plot and shoot them.

Pan fried pigeon breast, lovely.

I think the culprit for the onion pulling will be either a blackbird or a crow of some sort .
Pigeon do not eat onions or any insects that may be under them so would be wasting time and energy pulling them up!

I would be more concerned about rats and mice being attracted than birds and lets face it the woodpigeon do not need to be tempted to the  plot by a bird table.

They already know about brassicas and when to eat them ! ::)

That is my view too. If he didn't feed those birds they would still be around and hungry!

As opposed to stuff fried in what? A jelly-mould, an egg-cup, a plant-pot or on a shovel?

It's a issue I have tussled with as we have a bird feeder and put seed and water out for the birds, we gets lots of different little birds feeding and we want to encourage a diverse range of birds and insects.  We have a meadow section also and a bird box currently occupied with noisy chicks, but we do get pigeons landing on the bird table.  It's something we tolerate so we get the pleasure of watching the tits, finches etc. and a greater spotted woodpecker.  Obviously the brassicas are well protected!
