As above,

What is the best way to deal with them, organicly or otherwise?

I have the worst ever infestation of greenfly on my peppers. I prefer not to use pesticides so am using a mixture of squishing and a  soapy water spray - however you need to check every day just to keep on top of the wee blighters.  >:(

Daily close inspection and manual squishing is what works for me. Eventually, you'll win, but boy does it take a lot of patience.

My 14 year old grandson tells me he's spraying his greenhouse peppers with orange juice.

I've never heard of it before but he says it works, makes the aphids all sticky and they die

Must add how wonderful it is to have a grandson so keen on growing

My plants are already sticky from them.

I've never had an infestation like this before, it's really bad.
They seemed to apear over about 3 days, one day there was nothing and 3 days later there were thousands.

I'll be using soap solution and suashing.

once you have them I agree that soapy water is the best treatment, to prevent them settling in the first place hang up cloves of garlic which seem to keep them away
3 dogs, 8 chickens, 4 rabbits 2 guinea pigs, 10 quail, 2 fish and a demanding daughter who has gone to uni and left me with 29 animals to care for!!=)

I've never had it so bad either and am resorting to taking the plants outside and squirting them with the hose pipe. The organic spray seems not to work

I have been spraying daily with a dilute soloution of fairy liquid and it seems to be doing the trick.

The population on the plants have drasticly reduced and the plants seem to be looking a bit better.

Hi Stompy - you will have to keep re-applying - they reproduce rather rapidly if you miss any.

I seem to be getting a lot of greenfly on my chillis. They only seem to like the new chillis as they start to form, and leave the bigger ones alone. I've just been wiping them off and squashing them... our girls have found a few ladybirds around the garden, so I keep getting them to transfer them to the greenhouse...  :) not sure if they are doing any good!

The ladybirds will help but it will take time to build up a local population that will reduce the green fly noticeably  :)
