Christmas warning
« on: November 14, 2010, 16:48 »
As we have just ordered a root balled Christmas tree which will need storing for a few weeks, it seems appropriate to give a warning to anyone in a similar position.
Last year we left the tree outside in its pot whilst we moved the furniture. When we came out again, the tree was almost bare with delighted chooks eating their way along each branch in turn. The feast didn't seem to do them any harm (but we nearly did!).  :D

When my Dad died a couple of years ago, we were all at his funeral when the florist delivered various bunches of flowers to the family home.  All those expensive arrangements - lovely wreaths etc.  At least I assume they were lovely when they were delivered...

The house was locked up so the florist left the bouquets on the front porch.  A few hours later my brother came home to find a lot of bare stems sticking out of florists' foam in differnt shapes.  The chooks were looking very happy though!

Needless to say, Mum sent "thank you" cards to all the people who had sent flowers and just said "thank you for the lovely flowers."  She didn't have the heart to tell them that the hens had just had the best meal of their life!

sorry I know I shouldn't laugh and it must have been terrible at the time but that has amused me  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Don't worry, it amused us too!  We all laughed like drains, and knew Dad would have laughed too.  He was very fond of those chooks.
