best weed control membrane
« on: September 05, 2014, 17:36 »
Can anyone advise on the best weed control membrane to use? I have been told to buy Terram 1000 but it is so expensive! We need to cover a large area - 4 metres by 25 metres and it will be walked on. I want to buy stuff that will not let weeds through and will last for several years. I think I need membrane that is at least 100gsm in strength/thickness.

If it is under a path (i.e. the path is constructed on top of it) then you need the Terram type.

To mulch under, say, a hedge (i.e. basically a surface membrane which is then [optionally] covered with bark or somesuch) then the woven type is more suitable, trade names like Mypex / Zebel (or perhaps Yuzet which is not UV stabilised, which should be fine if covered)
