Hi,
I use diatom powder in the coop and in the dust bath. If its a bad infestation then use any of the red mite liquid killers in the coop itself (remember to make sure it dry before you let the birds back in). make sure also you get the liquid into all the nooks and crannies. you'll need to keep doing it though, its not a one hit thing but a long term measure.
harkamectin and diatom powder has kept our birds free of red mites for several years.

If you pressure wash them out the hens will bring them back to re-infest months later. Kill the mites in the coop . Best of luck in the battle.

all i do is monthly clean out the coop completely, removing all bedding. spray the inside, under the roof, the outside and underneath with a sterilant. let this dry. sprinkle diatom powder all over the inside including the underneath of the roof. the wood must be dry.
then the brids get the treament - diatom powder rubbed in and also i put some in their dust bath.
every 3 months or so i give them harkamectin drops - it sorts out the internal and external parasites.
touch wood i've never had any problems with mites, lice, worms etc.
good luck and perserve, it may take awhile to get rid of them.

spray the coup with poultry shield making sure you get into all the nooks and crannies, you may need to repeat this several times until you are mite free.
Staffies are softer than you think.

We thoroughly spray the hen houses with poultry shield once every week and have never had a problem with mites. I recommend poultry shield  :).

good luck buggie, i think its all something we dread to think about,   my girls have got a new house and although it is absoutley fantastic for them,  its absoutely full of knooks and crannies for possible redmite,   the coop is creosoted so im hoping i wont have any problems,  i think im getting a bit OCD with the old poultry sheild spray, i was spraying like a woman possessed yesterday when i cleaned it out lol lol.   nickyx
