just got back from the allotment and am seriously worried about a small bay tree that we planted about six weeks ago.  the leaves are pale and speckeled with brown spots- it was in my garden at home -in a pot-  can anyone help me out with this problem-  also my much larger bay in our front garden is getting a lot of yellow leaves, i'm in a real panic about this.

I can only commiserate with you  we had a 4ft high ball took 5 years to get it that state then we had the same symtoms you have. I tried Spraying with fungiside but to no avail  :cry:  :cry: it just withered and died I only hope someone out there can help you.

Could there be a nutrient deficiency?  Can often happen with perennials in tubs - yellowing leaves might be a hint.

Someone else may be able to suggest the best feed to try.

Check the compost in the pot. Look for any grubs like vine weevils etc. You could always change the compost .

Bay trees hate lime. They also hate with a passion being disturbed. When my Dad died i moved a large Bay tree from his garden, and it immediate sulked and shed all its leaves, and then i ended up ling a big hole with plastic sheet and burying it in that. It took two years before it was happy.
