Potatoes
« on: January 29, 2014, 14:01 »
I see potatoes are everywhere in the garden centres and I have received from Marshalls seed that I didn't order
BUT
Still none that I ordered in September from T&M.  In this part of the world I want them in the ground in a fortnights time and that leaves little time for chitting. When I telephoned I got the excuse that the rain has made it difficult to get them out of the ground yet.
I never realised that this years seed was left in the ground until now, I thought it was harvested & stored in suitable conditions over winter.  Or was that an excuse dreamed up on the spur of the moment.
Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut and be suspected of knowing nothing than opening it and proving it.

Mine came last week from T+M.
So I think it was an excuse

I too am waiting for potato seed from T&M. I don't think they actually produce the seed. I recently had a delivery direct from Guernsey of Raspberries.
I always keep a few seed of my own (from certified seed) just in case. Lady Christl are well chitted, and I have planted them in medium pots and the shoots are just emerging. Did this last year and had a presentable early crop.
