I've looked at a lot of these recipes and they vary wildly - is it always best to soak them in brine first? And has anyone got a favourite cucumber and (possibly red) onion pickle recipe? Otherwise I'll have to use my initiative.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Weird isn't it - I can't move for cucumbers yet all the runner beans I've planted have resulted in a very puny crop.

Same here noshed, Loads of cucumbers, and I know I only planted half the runner beans that I had last year, but even so, they are not a very good crop.  Mind you, more flowers coming now the weather is a bit cooler and damper!!

I have a glut of Cues.  Bought some Kilner Jars.  Sliced the cues and salted for half an hour.  Rinsed and then mixed with a few whole, pricked chillies.  Put into jars and covered with pickling vinegar.

One month old now and taste great, hope I can resist until they get older as I am told they get better with age.  Perhaps I should move them out of sight  - the jar is just so tempting!  Slice of mature Chedddar, couple of crackers and a helping of pickled cucumber.

No dribbling - It really doesn't get any better than this!
