Site Upgrade
« on: January 30, 2015, 00:43 »
Over the next weeks we will be updating the forum software and the server's operating system software. You may find the forum offline at points, although we will try to do most of the work at quiet times like the early hours of the morning (UK time)

Some of the scripts we use on the main site may well give problems as they were written for the older system software. If you come across a page not working or a load of technical babble please let us know (just post on here)

Fingers crossed it will go smoothly

Hi John,
Not sure if this is linked to an upgrade or not. I could see attached photos on the site at 9pm. Logging back in now, I can't. They are all a box that doesn't do anything when clicked on. It appears to only be the attachments.

I can see that the similar topics section has now come back though - I really liked that, helped a lot in searching for information.

Edit: I now get this message when I click on the photo:
Allotment Gardening Error 404
Error 404 - Not Found
The requested file was not found on the server. This could be because it was deleted or it never existed in the first place. Often caused by misspellings of URLs.

Did you try searching? Enter a keyword(s) in the search field above. Or, try one of the links below.

We'll get them restored asap.

When you look at the thousands of lines of code, interactions between modifications all designed independently and so forth, it isn't things going wrong that's a surprise - it's that they work at all  8)

Still, it's not like we allow software to run nuclear reactors or fly planes, is it?

I read that post earlier. It was a first-post, for that user, and I can't access it now, so perhaps it is in moderation.

Sometimes we move a post or thread to a private area of the site for review by moderators - can be all sorts of reasons for that. So what's happened is we've moved this to the private area and it won't allow non-moderators access although it displays a link to the thread.

It doesn't happen often :)
