Title: Onion Sets - Stuttgart
Post by: Cluelessbutkeen on November 09, 2007, 17:54
I wonder if somebody could assist me.

New to forum and in second year of Allotment Vegetable Gardening.

I've ordered and received my seeds and onions for next year.

I grew Stuttgart from sets last year (very successful) and Walla Walla from seed (less than successful).

I've just received the stuttgart sets but have forgotten when I planted them this year, I think it was Feb.

Can I leave the sets in the garage until then or will I have to plant them earlier?

Appreciate help on this and as its such a basic question I'm sure you'll understand I'm fairly new to this.

Thanks

I'd have thought he would have been more likely to to have a build up of problems growing in the bed all the time.Would have thought trace elements must get depleted.
More of a worry to me is that many of us are gifted, swop or buy in cabbage, caulies wallflowers ect with out thinking that we may be introducing clubroot     Bob

not realy bobby some folks grow onions on the same bit of land year after year, every winter you add manure.
robinsons (http://www.mammothonion.co.uk/history.htm)have used the same site for there onions for over a hundred years.

seeds represent more of a challenge - sets - well they are sets - any fool can grow em   they are pretty fool proof
