Just cleared one raised bed of the broad beans. Cut them off and left the roots in.
Now I am going to sow a green manure crop to over winter.
Should I dig some manure in first ?

I wouldn't have thought that would be necessary, unless your soil is very sandy or something.

I am working on it but when it rains I am still left with a layer of sand on top!
