Pig Huts what is suitable?
« on: October 09, 2010, 15:23 »
Hi all,
We are going to have pigs and what would you think of using two old wooden garden sheds for Huts with stable door so only the bottom opens?

Any advice appreciated :)

Amazingly strong animals are pigs. Heavy too.
You might want to build something a little more "Industrial" ;)
We built a pig ark out of 8x4 sheets of 3/4" ply, reinforced with 4x2" timber struts.
They haven't managed to break it yet. ;)

Yes,I had thought they may be able to break the sheds so I have done some research and found a good deal with professional arcs from G&T  Evans!

After all the hassle of making one,the cost of any additional materials and time,I think it has to be more economical to go for the plunge and buy one.

How much space do you need for pigs?? I would really want a couple, even the youngest daughter does, but thats only because she wants her own bacon and sausagues!!!
Graham = 2x Border collie Dogs, 2x Cats, 1x Wife, 2x Kids, 2x Hamsters and now 10x chickens.

Hi Knight Family :)

None of the pig experts have come forward to answer your question, so I found this article which I found interesting and at least in part may answer it.
