Had a bit of a nightmare getting the base perfectly round yesterday in the rain.

It is a 15 sided circle and the know the measurement from the centre to each of the 15 points needs to be 2250mm but try as we might we could not get all points to this figure and ended up chasing a bulge around thee base. It turns out after much head scratching that the head of the nail used to hook the tape measure onto was too big so the tape was under reading by 5mm. it doesn't sound like much but trying to make a solid circle 5mm smaller all round just ain't gonna work. once we discovered this and made allowances it when together.

So thee base is now round and level and painted. I tried to drive some stakes down into the ground but they would only go about a foot into the ground so i am going to make up some steel stakes to anchor the dome down.

This size dome is quite efficient when it comes to wastage. This is thee kind of waste we get from making the triangles.

Looking good!

I'd have been doing a bit more than head scratching in your position!

Well done, looks brilliant. I will be very interested in how long your plastic lasts & how plants grow within it, warmth inside etc.

It's great, but with the vandals around our way it would not last long if visible from the road. I'm interested in seeing how you create the vent and I'm guessing you will have an automatic opener. Plus the door are you going to have a mesh grill . panel so you get some air flow in the summer and close it during the colder months?

What have you got planned internally? How are you going to grow / use the dome now you have it?

The vents are simple. They are simply a hinged triangle section and I will use an auto opener.

I am going to fit vents in the base board for ventilation at ground level.

I am hoping to primarily  use aquaponics to grow both vegetables and fish all year round.
