I don't want the greenhouse on my plot to get too hot, as I am unable to visit it every day and certainly not morning and night, as I can do with my back garden GH

I think some form of shading cloth, even just on the southern roof would be a great help in keeping the temperature to a safe level.

However, how do I fit this ?

As I'm not at the plot now, I'm not sure whether there is any form of gap near the end of the ridge. If there was, I could fit a length of string or fine wire to hold the top of the netting.

Some form of wire would be needed at the bottom corner, so I could tuck the shading behind it.

Any advice would be appreciated

You get some left over emulsion paint, dilute it 50/50 with water and slap it all over!

Being new to GH i have to ask a stupid question or two

A, how would it work on plastic panels as we have them and glass.
B, when do you do it and when to clean it off, or do you leave it all year around.

Please dont laugh I have never had a GH before.

I put some scaffold netting on the outside and kept it in place with cloths pegs on the frame.

Im not sure emulsion would come off polycarb nicely , and coolglass (the commercial product to do the same) isn't for plastic/polycarb.

It's Not silly BQ - I too have only just got a greenhouse and have been thinking the same - I intend to get some suckers with hooks on that I can lick and stick to the polycarbonate and hang debris netting off them at the apex of the greenhouse and then use bulldog clips to hold the netting at the top of the staging as it goes all the way to the eaves of the greenhouse.

I'm not proposing to do this until it gets a little warmer as I assume my seedlings need full sun at the moment.

If you can fix the shade netting on the outside its more effective than having it on the inside. I hold mine in place with Bulldog clips. The first year that I did it I was worried that the wind might blow it off, but its never been a problem. You don't get the sail effect with a net that you would get with something more solid like fleece or a plastic sheet.
