Title: wod burner out of action
Post by: rowlandwells on February 19, 2018, 16:56
loads of wood and nothing to burn it on as the wood burner has had a major burn out the wood burner is  a Montfort Elegance

after the carrying out the removal procedure to remove the fire bricks and baffle plate the fire bricks disintegrated in the process and the baffle plate was badly burnt and unable to reuse we had the same problem two years ago and needed  to replace all the parts mentioned at around £300  making the repairs around £600 quid with this replacement that's not good  >:(

although we had the original open fire taken out when we refurbished the house in favour of a modern wood burner supposedly to be more easier cleaner and safer than the open fire but the wood burner is proving to be more costly in parts  I just wondered if anyone has had the same problem with there wood burner or could give me any advise how o rectify the problem as I don't really want  to fork out another £300 quid in another two years I think if this is the case then the open fire mite be worth reinstating

What wattage is the burner?
How big a space does it occupy?
What do you burn on it?
How many hours a day is it lit?
Is the chimney lined and if so with what?
Is it swept yearly?
Do you have a stove thermometer to know the temp?
