:?  I see lots of tips in gardening books about growing 'green manure', eg. comfrrey; but I don't see it in seed catalogues. So what should I be growing? - and how do I get hold of the seeds/plants?

go nd order a kilo of mustard seed from your supplier  then broadcast sown on the turned and raked level soil , when its about 12 inch high turn it in again . you can order bulk amount of seed at garden centres , i use mustard as its cheapest and best in my opinion

Don't forget that mustard is a brassica though.

mustard is quick growing -and good to fit in the growing gaps in your schedule - over winter Hungarian Rye is prob good - longer growth, dig in come spring - and will keep the weeds from growing for a month.  - mustard as a brassica has to be treated as such in your rotation
