grey, windy and much cooler than the last few days. After I managed to get 2 loads of washing dry the other day I thought I'd risk the bed linen today but it's not looking promising so far.

It's quite late to do so, I'd just plant it just below the surface. I doubt the country will see any hard frosts from now. You might just get some garlic scallions or small bulbs you can eat as green garlic, either way worth a try as you can't really buy them from the stores

Spring planted garlic usually means early February, so there's still enough time for vernalisation. If you try again next year plant them deeper in february, or try ones that do well from an autumn planting. Germidor is a good reliable softneck for that

A freezer full of diced lamb or stuff you’ve slow cooked with it is worth it and will make great emergency meals for when you need a treat.

I know what you mean about shopping data, but I’ve signed up to Trashco because non-club card prices are just way too expensive for me to deal with and that’s my nearest big shop.

Soddages for us tonight with something yet to be decided. Co-op deal - I needed bacon but it was silly money just for that, or a deal with sausages and then more money off that for having a Co-op card (which I also own).

Don’t you just love supermarket loyalty cards and their price fixing  ::)  :tongue2:

The Hen House / Re: Chicken laying a fluid/liquid instead of an egg

She has possibly had some minor illness or upset and that has disrupted the egg laying process.  They instinctively mask any symptoms or injuries until they are really in trouble and can’t keep up the pretence.

If she is OK now or fast getting back to normal then all’s well  :)

I had a look at sansbods after- 26 normal 13 with nectar card  >:( I've signed up, I'm not a fan of every man and his dog having my shopping data but needs must as the devil drives.

Leftovers today - with a jacket if I can find one big enough not to shrivel to nothing in the microwave.   Failing that subs some other way - just not more mash.

As you can see from the old stem they don't grow as tall as willow herb but they are just as troublesome  :)

I always plant mine about 1" below the surface and not protruding at all.
I wouldn't have thought that spring planted garlic would be different to autumn bulbs.
