I'm not saying they are the source off it C, just that they do carry it.

Lot of dead wild birds as well been identified with it, mostly swans, also in Italy. Did you have farm outbreaks there?

There was a bit of a kerfuffle a couple of years ago, when an old fella got given short shrift in the local hospital, so ran off to the papers and claimed he had bird flu.  The authorities panicked as usual, until they realised they could make money from licensing people to sell bird-flu free chickens.

I'm not aware of a single reported legitimate case in my region.  I believe that this is in no small part due to the fact that there is no intensive poultry farming here (and that most of the remaining Contadini/peasant farmers would just kill a bird if it looked off-colour, without reporting it.)

I think that is quite likely for a lot places, that cases go unreported.
