I am a bit confused as to where to put my jap onions. I have a four plot rotation, do I put them where my onions are going to be next season (but they won't be out when I want to plant next years onions?), or do I put them where they have just been (then they will be out of the way for my brassicas) , or do I put them somewhere completely different? We eat a lot of onions and want to maximise planting both jap onions and main season ones.

Should be somewhere completely different.
You don't want them in the same place as last years crop incase they get anything from them, and you don't want them where next years will go, so they don't introduce anything to them.
