Has anybody noticed more maggots in the blackberries this year?  I've got a latge crop of lovely big berries but then find loads of little maggots in them. Puts me off a bit.
Is there any way to get rid of the creatures without damaging the fruit too much?

Yes, I've noticed a lot this year - but then there are usually a few anyway...

I steep batches of blackberries in salted water for 5-10ish mins - the damaged fruits float so can be picked out, then drain most of the water and top up a couple of times to rinse and get rid of most of the maggots and then if you swirl the water and remove smallish handfuls into a sieve/colander you can give them a final check over

I just don't fancy eating maggots, cooked or otherwise!  Extra protein, I suppose
