campbell ducks and ducklings hatched
« on: September 23, 2009, 08:29 »
Hi everyone. I am proud owner of 8 white campbells, 5 of which are 10 weeks old and were hatched and nurtured by mum, dad and auntie. Dad has been great - a model parent until last week when he started trying to see off the two young males.  They are both slightly larger than Dad but they can outrun him and of course do not retaliate, just run. They come back to the group and carry on again as normal, but then it can all kick off again with him chasing either one of them or both, nipping at their tails - sometimes hanging on. Will it all settle down to a hierarchy? or should i separate them into two groups, or reluctantly sell on the two young males - who are very handsome and come when they are called for food and will almost hand feed, they are a joy.
Regards.
