Title: Automatic Vent opener
Post by: Ghost on March 14, 2011, 13:17
Hi

I've brought one of these at the weekend but there's no info with it about the opening temperature (the temperature it opens the vent at). I assume this is controlled but the thumb screw on the end. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

This time of year screw the wax cylinder in 10mm, you can wind it in further as the weather gets warmer.
Getting the locking pin though the lil` ole into the rod can be a pain.
Re-fitted mine this morning. :)

So is that 10mm of screw of the cylinder showing out the back of the thumb screw? I have none showing out the back of the thumb screw at the moment and it started to open the vent when it was 26c in the greenhouse.

The further the screw is wound in the quicker and further it opens, as long as the thread has 4-5 turns into the block and will not fall out it`s ok.
I like to build up some heat during the day to compensate for cold nights , like a night storage heater in reverse.

Thanks for your help.

Does your opener go fully straight in Summer (12 o clock position) ? Just wondering because my vent doesn't open straight so it's totally vertical (it gets to 10 o clock position not 12 o clock position) and I don't want the opener to damage it by forcing it in summer.

Don`t worry they never open that far. :)
