Title: Chillies

Evening All

              I have been given three chilli plants. The variety is Apache, but can anyone tell me if they are
                 hot or not. Cheers.

It's not mind-numbing but it is a hot one at 80,000 on the Scoville Scale.

Mrs Growster's faves, Hiccup - I like them as well, and can actually speak quite normally afterwards as well..;0)

They're the only one's we're growing this year!

Jalapeņo is just about my limit. I grow Anaheim and Fresno so I can get more of the chilli taste. I top up the heat with Cayennes if necessary.

Yes, It does depend on how much heat you like  :lol:

I grew several varieties last year and while they all had something going for them this year I am only growing two Jalapeņo and De Arbol. The Arbol is outstanding in my view not too hot but hot enough it can be dried and used to make salsa in the winter time and makes a great Indian style chilli pickle... which I have eaten loads of  :)  I love them raw green and shredded through a curry to give it some bite. The jalapeņo is also very good for pickling and also cooking particularly poppers. Of course the amount of heat you get is related to the amount of sun they get, we get plenty of sun so chillis tend to be full on grown down here.
