tractor racing ????
« on: October 23, 2007, 14:19 »
anyone know of any clubs or individuals in the cheshire (near nantwich)
area that are into tractor racing ????

my girlfriend has a field as part of the land with her house that is about 150 foot long by maybe the same wide at the widest point, bit of a slight slope to it as it runs down towards a stream.

it is in need of a good turning over and someone suggested we try to find anyone that races tractors in ploughing competitions as they would be glad of the practise? not sure how true this is but it sounds like a plan to me  :tongue2:

it probably just needs doing the once as i've been over it in the ride on mower to get all the thistles and nettles down but if a few ploughs were required then that shouldn't be a problem.

any tips on where to start asking would be appreciated, thank you.  :D

Hate to be a wet blanket but I reckon you'd be left with nothing but a quagmire of compressed soil and water-filled trenches - no air in the soil at all.  Think Paschendale  :(

Borrow a few pigs (provided you don't have any celandine present)

cheesr shaun, many thanks for the link. i'll get in touch and see what they say. i do see your point and yes you're quite right, better to just have it ploughed rather than used as a race track lol, maybe one or two would be willing to give it a go for us, certainly dont mind helping them along with fuel money cos its just too big for the ride on mower to do effectively  i think.

cheers !

IT's a club that organises ploughing matches you need mate.  Deffo some in Cheshire try alooking on the Old Glory site about traction engines.

Agricultural show sites may help as well Sorry it's a bit general but hope it helps.
