Title: Leaky Hose Idea
Post by: andreadon on January 11, 2019, 17:57
So, I was reading John's excellent book on Veg growing month by month, particularly the watering section, and he talks about the Leaky Hose.
Fantastic idea.

Now, he writes about using the running water to make equivalent of 10-15mm of rain, burying the leaky hose and running the water for as long as that takes.
So, I thought, what about getting a plastic container of the size required (10-15litres per metre squared), putting a hole at the very bottom and connecting the hose to it.
So if your leaky hose is below the ground, but the end of it is above the ground, plonk your holey container down, attach the hose, then fill the container with the 10-15 litres of water.
Leave it be and the water will drain out through the leaky hose, providing the right amount of water at a decent flow rate, without having to worry about the running water.

I also thought the same idea could work with a cracked or leaking bucket, where you plonk the bucket in the area you want to water and fill it to the required level. The water will go straight into the ground.

I'll call it a Liza Bucket.
