"Molly The Witch" Paeonia mlokosewitschii
« on: April 24, 2009, 21:02 »
Hi

Was wondering if anybody has grown this plant, peony, (Paeonia mlokosewitschii) often called "Molly The Witch" from seed ?

I am wondering weather to have a bash, however I know the seed company supplying the seeds does not in general include growing advice.

So I am wondering if any of you kind people have grown this plant and may have any tips on seed sowing/germination/growing ?

Many thanks in advance for any help, as it is much appreciated, Thanks.  :)

It would be much easier from fresh seed - once dried out can take a long time to germinate even 3 years!  It may even do the peculiar thing of producing roots only the first year and shoots the next year after chilling during the winter.  Good Luck!!
Playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order!

Hi celjaci

Many thanks for that imformation, it really helps.

Another person elsewhere has given me a few hints, again fresh seed is best, but as I have no access to fresh seeds, looks like dried will have to do if I go ahead with trying to grow them.

They have mentioned 2 years and yourself 3, so a long project

Thanks for the tips, very usefull.  :)
