oh no sorry to be a pain again today but have noticed all the rocket all
in various places around garden are covered in tiny little transparent holes.
I have just spotted small little fly type insects that look abit hairy.  They are only on the rocket.  what are they? what can i do, should i pull all the plants out.   Bother its my favourite as well.  I knew it would never be easy.  Mrs.Bouquet

Possibly thrips, they love salad leaves.

You can try a proprietary insecticide. No doubt some one will be along with the organic way!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

all of my rocket got eaten (little transparent holes) and I was told it was flea beetle
apparently you need to cover it to keep them off

thanks guys for your comments.  I have now cut them down cause they were totally covered.  have cut them down to the ground (oh the pain) and will spray when the wind ever stops blowing.  They are now moving on to the radish!!  Thanks guys.  Mrs Bouquet.

If it is flea beetle (and I'm not saying it is) then I found that all they did to radishes were to disfigure the leaves, the radishes themselves were delicious.
As for rocket/salads, yes they didn't look too pretty but once they were mixed up in a salad you couldn't tell  :D

I'd much rather eat a leaf that doesn't look great than one that has been sprayed with chemicals  :(

Also I dont think net curtain will keep them out, you need ultra fine enviromesh (not the ordinary one) or fleece

Yes, mine have been flea-beetled into lace doilies too but taste absolutely fine - nay, great! I may fleece them next year for purely aesthetic reasons, but it's not a big deal.

Try sowing some mustard nearby.

I had that problem with my rocket eaten by flea beetles, and also my pak choi.

A good dusting with derris powder  cured  that, and it is supposed to be organic.
