honda help
« on: March 21, 2008, 19:18 »
Hello all, after a bit of help!

This is my first post on this site so here goes.  I have just collected 2 honda rotovators which I won on ebay earlier this week to save a bit of back ache on the allotment.

The model that I would like to get up and running first is a Honda GV200 5.0hp 4 stroke engine and states should use 3 star petrol.

Could anyone assist with what type of petrol/mix I should use as I am aware that 3 star is no longer available.

If anyone has an instruction book or knows where I can get one that would also be great also.

Many Thanks

you haven't got any choice but to use unleaded.
It would be worth taking the cylinder head off and decoking the engine, if you don't know for certain that this has been done.
there should be no problem regarding valve seat hardness ect, but unleaded fuel does make old leaded fuel carbon "sticky", and this can gum up the valves.
hope this helps.

Wow that's older than mine. I have found that they benefit from grinding in the valve seats and getting the valve clearances right. Keeps the compression up, never found much wear in the bore. Also you can get fuel additives to replace the lead content in petrol to lubricate the valve seats. If you let me know the engine number I will have a look in my library for any info I can find.
