Potato Onions
« on: August 28, 2011, 09:57 »
Has anybody got any idea where I might find   Potato Onion  sets, the red variety. I got some from ebay earlier this year, advertised as 3 red and 3 white,  but they all turned out white.  Just wondering if anybody might know of another site where I could buy them.
There is no better show of antisipation than a man sowing seeds in a field.

Tried it, no luck!  Potato onions are quite rare nowdays, just thought somebody on here might be able to help. Long shot I know but always worth a try!

Try doing a Google on Multiplier Onions, the other name for them. It comes up with more matches.

Here's a supplier - http://www.poyntzfieldherbs.co.uk/catalogue2.asp?searchterm=Allium+cepa+Aggregatum

That's where I got mine from but they only do the white ones.  I'm hoping someone will come up with a supplier for the red ones as well  :D

Well they're selling the red ones on ebay. If it's the same ebay supplier you bought from before, then I'd talk to them and mention that the previous order turned out to be white so could they please make sure they're definitely red this time.

See they look like mine, which are the white ones   The red ones were widely grown in the states and are red skinned.  Even on the forums over there, people are complaining they can't get the red ones, so I think they may have been lost  :(

They do look like they have yellow skins rather than red ones, as I would expect
