Successional Sowing
« on: August 14, 2006, 13:23 »
Hi folks

Has anyone come across a guide for successional sowing ? I am hopeless at this and end up eating loads of stuff rather than throw it away. I can work out crop rotation fine but this bit defeats me how much? how often? for a good long cropping period Can this also be manipulated by using different varieties and is this perhaps the best method? Any help so I can plan for next year would be appreciated.

Cheers

Seed packets seem to say sow every fortnight for most stuff. As for how much... I'd estimate how much you want and plant that many plus a third to a half more than that every fortnight. Then you shouldn't have a huge glut but enough to stand up to the army of slugs and other pests.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.
