attatching metal shed to flag stone base
« on: August 04, 2007, 00:18 »
Hi,

OK now please remember I am blond and a woman here!
I have prepared a base of gravel sand and flaggstones for my metal shed which has no built in base.
It said when i bought it that it has an anchoring system which is four screws to drill in to the flaggs.
Will a normal drill be able to drill in to these? I have a cordless drill but it is not to powerfull and i doubt it will do the job.
Is there any other way of keeping it earth bound?
Like to be as nice as possible to our planet!

masonary drill to fit the frame holes . rawl plugs and a strong driver bit . set it in place drill the holes in flags fit rawl plugs by lifting frame up slightly , screw fits in rawl plug with framing trapped intween , when you have glazed the house get some sandand cement if you want it to be permanant and put some cement around the metal edges of the frame . or drill 4 holes in the corners of the house frame on the upright . fit a bottle screw ( from chandlers about 8 inch long) to each hole dig a corresponding hole in the soil to about 12 inch by 12 inch deep and fill with concrete stick retaining bolt in the cement and fit the other end of  the bottle screw loosly to this .. when concrete has set ( 3 days) tighten up the bottle screws on all four corners , sorted ,jobs a guudun

Hi,

Thanks for the advice.
I have now managed with the help of my husband (neither of us are good at diy  :? ) to put together the metal shed and attach it to the base!
I am quite proud of our little shed...........just need to sort the rest of the plot now.

So where's the pics, we like shed pics
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Hi guys and gals,

I promised I would post some pics as soon as I could well I have taken some today so I am now going to try and post them here.........

This is our plot having its waist high weeds cut down when we took it on in June of this year. Thats my poor husband trying to wage war on them with a strimmer!

This is the shed we finally managed to get up and attached to the base!
Small but perfectly formed and we are proud of it :)

What a mess already. We need to sort out some shelves and stuff for inside now!

I just thought I would add this pic of our composting area!

So thats as far as we have gotten since June. It seems so daunting sometimes to look at the whole plot. The weeds are growing tall again but we just have to continue to try and fight them back. I cant wait until it is all in a fit state for growing but I cant see that happening for a long time!
