I have a plot on a private allotment where they have just installed a composting toilet. You can find info on the web www.kazuba.eu . I believe the cost installed was £7000 for which they got a lottery grant due to making plots available for people with disabilities.
Apparently when they first enquired about this system they could just purchase the basic unit costing £3500 and do a self install , now apparently you have to  have the full installation which to my mind is expensive. There will be other manufactureres of course and one thing to look out for, a resident adjacent to the allotments has complained to the council so the planning officer is due to pay a visit,i will let you know the outcome.
