To be honest, I nearly fainted when I saw some of the prices.

For example they charge 1p per carrot seed.  T & M are not the cheapest, but for example - Autumn King 2 - their cost £1.69 for 2000 - that would cost you £20 here.

I know you may not need that many, but even in a small patch it's more economical at that price to sow a part packet of T & M's & throw the rest away! Don't forget that stored correctly a packet will last several years. (There are exceptions).

Another: Greyhound cabbage 2p per seed - T & M £1.69 for 500!

I could compare them with Moles and get even more horrendous comparisons!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

OK - had to just for the devilment of it!

Moles - Autumn King 2 - £2.30 for about 20,000 seed. That would cost a whopping £200 on this site! Double

That's given me an idea!!!!

The interesting thing about the

http://www.seedsuk.com

web site is that at the bottom of their home page they show that:-

"Seeds UK are proud to promote Allotment Vegetable Growing and would like to thank Moles Seeds".

What is the link?  Presumably Moles supply the seeds to them at a discount but where does Allotment Vegetable Growing come in or is it just because they want to promote a brilliant web site - I am not being sarcastic.  :?

This supplier in fact can save me a lot of cash if I pick and choose.

For instance when I sow peas it is 2 X 10 ft rows, a total of 160 peas. Cost of ONWARD from Suttons £2.25 for a packet of 260.
Cost of this site at 1p per seed for the 160 I need is £1.60.

Pumpkin from Suttons £2.15 for 20 seeds. I only grow 2 plants so 6 seeds I need at 18p each comes to £1.08

Good site and lots of interesting varieties of vegetables.

What I also meant to add was that it also gives an opportunity to grow several varieties without having to buy whole packets of each. Pumpkins and squashes are a good example.

I've got some seeds from Pennard plants and culm view nursery; not sure yet about their quality but they were £1 per packet and free p&p!

One packet will just about do you 2 years though - the seed will easily store. Fortunately I've a nursery nearby that sells them loose and the cost is a fraction of the packet ones. I appreciate that not everyone is in this position.

I think the bottom line though is, if you can - share!
