Yes -

maincrop spuds - I get Desiree and Picasso for £3.50/half bag from a gent who sells at the roadside, and two half sacks last us all winter
peas - if we want the taste of fresh peas, we eat pea sprouts, ready in 10 days and a second crop 10 days after that
sweetcorn - we don't eat enough of it to make a good sized block

I thought onions would join this list, but the difference in taste between home grow and farmer's market is phenomenal, so we have 600 in this year

My brother gave me Sara Raven's Great Vegetable Plot for my birthday - she recommends planting some peas to eat the tops as salad leaves. I might give it a try if I can find the room.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Great idea - you can grow pea shoots all year round, and indoors in the winter. Cut above the first leaf joint, and you'll get a second harvest :D

Growing peas to eat ...
... the tops as salad crops ...   ... I'd be grateful to get a pea to sprout full stop!

Going back to the original question ... I can't be arsed to grow main crop spuds I don't eat that many, so I'm growing two different early varieties, one later than the other and then trying some of last years Pink Fir Apples.

I also can't be arsed to grow cabbage, there is only me what eats it and I struggle to even give it away.

Swede because the ones in the shops are always better than mine.
Main crop spuds, too much room and cheap to buy from the farm.

swedes need 2 yr old manure , lime in winter then sow in march /may . dont allow to dry out and thin when needed . its important to lime well as this controls eelworm  and they do real damage to swedes and turnips ,,, i love the purple topped turnips ,i call them stubble ones as they are used to feed sheep in winter to fresh grass growth coming on ,, believe me  sliced and nuked for 6-8 mins they are delicous  with a bit milled pepper and a knob of butter , with swedes look out for beet  beetle ?   as well
