HI
i have been very busy on my new allotment mostly digging and weeding, i have however managed to plant onions, garlic, cabbage and fruit bushes, oh yes and  rhubarb.

i know i have to prepare a patch of ground and manue it for potatoes but what will be the next thing to plant??
or is that it till spring. i do still have a lot of digging to do to keep me busy but i dont want to miss out.

i know you can plant broad beans now,  but i dont like them.

thanks kim

I'm in the same boat  :D  i've a bit of digging to do then i would have finished. I've also planted my onions and garlic and my strawberries. I too don't like broad beans  :!:
I haven't covered my plot with weed suppresent so i will be spending a few hours each week hoeing :)
You could start a bean trench and fill it with kitchen waste, then soil, more waste etc to give your beans a good start next year  :)

Do you really not like Broad Beans?

Or do you not like those horrid big yellowy-brown thingies that you buy from the greengrocer that are called 'broad beans' that you have to peel and shell.  I hate them.

I adoooooooore beyond measure fresh broad beans, picked when the size of a large pea, and chopped up like a runner bean and steamed.

I love the tops, steamed - helps stop black fly.

Also you can plant salads - rockets, lettuces etc - get them going under glass and they'll continue growing.

Broad beans straight from the pod are superb, spesh The Sutton, I have mine in and unless we get a good cold snap mine will be flowering soon and my whole early veg plan will be down the pan.
