I was back in the midlands for a medical appointment and visited my soon to be ex-allotment. Harvested 6.5kg of beautiful rhubarb which is now prepped and in the freezer ready for jam and chutney brews when I have time!

Still a few weeks off harvesting rhubarb yet. Last year we'd already had a good picking.

I wish i had rhubarb to harvest :(its only 3" tall at the moment ,hope to get some later in the year once the weather gets a bit warmer.

Wow, lucky you! I am still in the fase of finding out if all the plants will show again this year!

Wow lucky you.  I have been away for a week and I am dying to get to the plot to see have I got any Rhubarb ready in the forcing pot.  I know the rest was only 2 to 3 inches tall when I last saw it so not a hope of any of that being ready.

Prompted by this, I had a look on my plot and it has grown just enough to harvest a couple of pounds. The stalks are only 8-9" long, but it's a big patch and generally goes to waste later in the year, so though I might as well harvest it early before it gets to full size.

Handed over to partner now, who will bake something scrummy. I did hint that the rhubarb and ginger cake was nice last year🙂
