Some things to ponder over on dark nights.
« on: October 23, 2017, 13:39 »
I'm sure someone on here will already know the answers but sometimes I have a ponder about things such as:
1) Do all the planets etc rotate in the same direction?
2) Would it have made any difference if earth rotated in the opposite direction?
3) How did men's ties come about and why?
4) Why are the irises in our eyes coloured?
5) Who keeps up with the Jones's?

I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I could answer these as both a amateur astronomer and optician however I will let you carry on thinking about these so you dont get bored  ;)
I will answer No.5 tho. I didn't keep up with the Jones's, I married one  :D :D :D

Edit: When you say rotate in the same direction do mean orbit the sun or rotate on their own axis? Another one to ponder because there are in fact two questions there to ponder more so

Punk isn't dead...it's underground where it belongs. If it comes to the surface it's no longer punk...it's Green Day!

Thanks a lot Aidy! Actually, both rotating the sun (and why the sun?) and rotating on its own axis. Three to ponder over now!

hahaha indeed, however the more you ponder about the universe and how it works, the more questions you will end up pondering (is there such a word)?

Edit: For instance when you have a binary double star, why does one star become a vampire and suck the energy mass out of the other causing it to cool down then explode into a supanova, but then the vampire itself become too hot and explode itself into another supanova  ponder that one

I think there is now but I'll have to have a ponder about it in case there isn't!
