Help spark plug removal on RLT30CESA
« on: October 13, 2017, 15:42 »
Hello I am servicing my Ryobi strimmer model RLT30CESA. I wish to change the spark plug but I can not remove the plug cap! It is partially concealed by the grey plastic housing and the plug lead is quite short. I do not wish to lever the plug cap and risk damaging either it or the plug itself. Has anybody got a technique for this?
regards a frustrated Trunky  :(

I'd be interested too. I also have a Ryobi strimmer and needed to buy a new plug-lead etc after I ruined it by forcing it off the plug

If you can loosen or remove the housing to make access easier. You will not damage the plug by removing the cap. I use two flat bladed screwdrivers either side at the bottom of the plug cap gradualy increasing the pressure. You can hold both sscrewdrivers in one hand while wiggling the plug cap. Instead of screwdrivers a pair of decent snipe nose pliars work just as well.
May the fork be with you

hi the only way to get at the spark plug is to remove the plastic housing I have the same problem with a stihlFS400 if I pull the plug cap off the end comes off then its a right pain putting it back in to the high tension lead  jezza
