I have noticed that L*dl has lots of cans which need openers, as do the cheaper ranges of canned veg in *sda. more of them than ever actually - which suggests a lot more foreign imports methinks
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

Dunno about that - the budget range of kidney beans, chick peas etc that I buy all need the tin opener

hmm, methinks the younger microwave generation may not know how to cook enough to ever need to open anything but a can of beans (which tend to come with ring-pulls)

whooaaa - what a sweeping generalisation from moi! Turning into a right curmudgeon aren't I??

The problem with the tins that have ring/tabs for opening them is that inevitably, at some point, they break  :nowink:

I use my "can opener" all the time but not for opening tins. I use the bottle opener part on it to remove the lids from the foods I can/bottle. I can't imagine someone not knowing what a tin opener is ...

*Unless you're talking about the really old school type which is essentially just a blade.  I've never used one that doesn't have rolling gears, so I'd be at a complete loss as to how to actually use one of those.

The only tins I have had with ring pulls were the slightly dearer tinned tomatoes that Mr Sunny bought, rather than our usual ones.

Maybe I just buy budget lines in everything then
