Newbie here
« on: June 19, 2014, 20:43 »
Hi I have just joined this forum.

Last year I made about 5 gallons of cider from my own apples, there were not enough for the full 5 gallons so I added some apple juice from the supermarket, it turned out fine.

Since I don't have a press, I boiled all the apples down into a mush before hand pressing them through muslin, fermenting them on the pulp to begin with.

I also had so much beetroot I did not know what to do with it, so I made a couple of gallons of wine. Following advice I fermented that in the dark.

I used to make wines  when I was younger but stopped when I moved. I have had to get all the demi johns, buckets and stuff again as I gave away all the old stuff years back and was surprised how expensive it has all become.

we (myself, hubby and the neighbours), did a tasting session before venturing again this year.Pea pod smelt awful, but tasted devine...but peas have been hit and miss this year.
Looking forward to the elderberry tasting.
