Title: Cold finally stopped anyone laying yesterday
Post by: Henwoman on December 13, 2017, 19:21
It was so cold yesterday I had to use five large jugs of hot water to get my car door unfrozen to open it.  No wonder the hens and ducks didn't produce yesterday.  It didn't freeze overnight and today two eggs again so hopefully a few more tomorrow if the temperature stays above 0 degrees.

My lot packed up laying for the winter a while ago now, so I think you have done well to get eggs so far  :)

My daughters 3 originals, stopped laying as soon as the weather turned, she got 2 new ones, then she found 1 of the originals dead, then accepted 1 from someone else whose other were got by the Fox. Her 2 new young ones have started laying slowly over last 2 weeks.

I did a quick pooh-pick clean of both coops earlier and there was an egg in the big one   First one in weeks.

From the way it was dumped in the middle of the floor, I suspect Millie.  She has been known to race into the kitchen when the back door is opened, stop and gasp a bit, then deposit an egg on the floor.  This is usually followed by her looking at the egg and her own rear end in total shock, then running back out  ::)
