Tried International Kidney as a first early last year. Never again, the outside turned to mush and the inside was a bullet.  We had been told they were like Jersey Royals!

But only if grown on Jersey.

The answer lies in the soil!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'm trying them for the first time this year - my cunning plan is to incorporate seaweed - unfortunately it's not from Jersey though - don't know if this will make a difference - fingers crossed

My top priority this year is slug resistance. I had some beautiful whoppers that would have made great jacket spuds ruined this year. Don't ask me what type - my new years resolution is to label rows better and keep records! (I grew two varieties of brussels to see which I prefered and forgot which was which!)
I've made a shortlist of slug/ blight resistant spud from the info on the tompson and morgan site, which I'll take to the garden centre when they're in.

That'll only be a token compared to the Jersey soil!

They've been putting the stuff (vraic) on their soil for centuries and the structure of it is far different from anything we grow in.

Interesting article here...

Arran pilot's got to be best for taste. (I'd lean towards Agapanthus anytime)

I grew King Edward and they were heavily cropping but a bit mushy when cooked. So I'll try something else this year !
