mange tout peas

Can someone tell me whether I dreamed this or is it true that mange tout peas are less susceptible to pea moth than ordinary peas?

That's 'cos you eat them before they're big enough to notice.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've always grown mangetout at home and never had a problem with pea moth at all.

I don't think I had any on mine on the lotty this year either - but did have a problem with my peas.

So I don't know - might be coincidence but it is my experience.

As for varieties - always grown bog standard varieties.

Hope this helps!
Lotty holder since Aug 09... I've FINALLY finished clearing it! On with the p.lanting  ....

The way I understand it is....that the moth lays its eggs at the base of the flower and after hatching the caterpillar eats into the peas in the  pods as they mature. mangetout are eaten before the caterpillar has a chance to hatch or do any damage

I grew mine in containers last year, and it was the best crop I'd had in ages.

Didn't get the moth, but did get it on my peas.
