Title: how should i prepare layers mash??

Im getting some ex free range hens tonight. i bought layers mash because we were supposed to be getting ex battery hens and that's what was reccommended but those ones are not coming now due to avian flu.... anyway the ex free rangers will have to eat the mash cos thats all ive got! Do i need to mix it with water or can they eat it dry??

Dry layers mash will be fine.  Have you asked the present owner what they are used to  :?:

Hi Tulip, good luck with your new girls :lol: Were your ex-battery ones coming from Adele in Haslingden? We were due to be getting some as well tomorrow, so big disappointment in our house tonight. :cry: And we'll have to wait till the September rescue because we're on holiday for the August one. :( Boo hoo :(  :(

Yes it was Adele we were supposed to be getting our girls from. I couldnt bear to have my daughter disappointed again so I phoned a local farmer in Blackrod and he is due to get rid of some 72wk old hens shortly so he let me have four for free! Well, he does have 36,000 so doubt he'll miss em! They are free rangers though so already very sociable although one has a white face and few feathers which means it's chosen not to go outside much. I was a bit worried about it last night, it looks thin and I think it sneezed but its probably my imagination cos it's the only one that layed an egg this morning! You've never seen so much giddyness over one egg.
